Where is voice?

How do I define "voice"?
How voice is measured?
Do teachers teach voice to students? Do they think voice can be taught? Do they assess "voice" in student writing?
Do they use this term in their teaching of writing?
If a student has her/his own "voice" in writing, will she/he be a better writer?
Is there a correlation between posessing "voice" and having writing improved?
What is my argument about "voice" in student writing that I want to make?

All the questions emerged when I told my dissertation chair, Assoc Prof. Paul Matsuda, that I'm interested in voice in student writing. He made a lot of good points during our conversation. I have to think more!! At least, the conversation has helped me try to figure out something.

Winter Break Trip

Wonderful Winter Break...

What a joyful life!! Right after Fall 2007 final week, my friends (Art, Nook, Pang, and Ouan) and I made a road trip to New Mexico State, Texas, Lousiana, and Oklahoma City. Our intention behind this trip was to count down in Lousiana's New Orleans, and we did it. During our ten-day trips, we stopped by several attraction places. On the list included San Antonio, Austin, Houston, Dallas, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Oklahoma City, and we did not forget to visit our state's Grand Canyon. How come we could miss such a spectacular place!! Don't you think so?
While reading this section of my blog, you might want to refer to the pictures I posted above so that you can get a glimpse how each site I mention looks like. I should statrt my journey now.

San Antonio, Texas (December 27-28, 2007)
Our first stop was San Antonio's River Walk where we so much enjoyed taking photos (see photos). Since we arrived there in the afternoon, it was not crowded, and envitably River Walk was ours!!!
